KK Take BFFF’s Ultimate Foodservice Accolade
At a Presentation Ceremony during a Gala Dinner Dance held at the London Hilton Hotel on the 8th June, the British Frozen Food Federation announced that the winner of the Catering Product of the Year for 2006 is THAI RED KING PRAWN CURRY from KK FINE FOODS plc. At the same time KK scored a hat trick by winning not only the Gold but Silver and Bronze awards as well!
KK have consistently set very high culinary standards in their products ever since their inception. This Gold Award winning product is no exception, being a contemporary dish with King Prawns in a Thai sauce with red peppers, bamboo shoots, mangetout and coconut milk, complimented with kaffir lime leaves and Thai basil. KK suggest that it should be served with sticky Jasmine rice for a delicious Thai meal. One of the judges remarked “Very good product, tastes like the real thing with lots of flavour. The best Thai-style dish I have tasted”. Another remarked, “Very good product. Looks as though freshly made. Prawns and sauce very good as are the vegetables and the leaves”.
The curry simply cooks via boil in the bag from frozen in around 20 minutes and if cooking from defrosted, in around 12 minutes.
The Silver Award also went to KK Fine Foods Plc. for their Chilli Meatball Con Carne making the 2006 BFFF Awards something very special for the company. The product consists of savoury meatballs in a delicious Mexican Con Carne sauce with chunky pieces of onion, mixed peppers and red kidney beans. Historically, Chilli Con Carne has proved to be one of Britain’s favourite meals to be found on many a menu. This product has taken the winning formula and added a twist for the rise in “Gastro” style pubs specifically. In a 400g pack, the product cooks via boil in the bag or can be decanted and microwaved.
The Bronze Award again went to KK Fine Foods Plc. for their Lamb Tagine making it a perfect day for the company. Medallions of lamb, infused in an array of Moroccan spices and gently braised with peppers, chickpeas, honey and saffron make up the product as Moroccan cuisine becomes more popular. It is now rated one of the best in the world and this product meets new demands.
